The English seam is a very solid seam which allows to obtain pretty finishes. You can make this sewing both by hand and by machine. 1. Position the two fabrics inside out, then stitch them 5 mm from the edge. Open the seam and iron it. 2. Continue by folding the fabrics right side up and stitch 1 cm from the folded edge.
3. Open the seam. You will then observe that the edges of your first seam are enclosed between the two stitches.
